Onboarding experience - Part 1

One of the phases where employers can make a big impact is during the onboarding experience. It sets the tone for and ensures the success of the candidate's transition into the workplace.

The first set of tips relate to what you can do before the candidate begins work.

Ensure

Ensure the new employee is asked if they require any workplace adjustments and that any requested adjustments are in place prior or as close to the start date as possible.

Offer

Offer a tour of the workplace prior to the new employee’s commencement date so they understand where to go, how to navigate the workplace and feel comfortable and confident on their first day.

Communicate

Offer a tour of the workplace prior to the new employee’s commencement date so they understand where to go, how to navigate the workplace and feel comfortable and confident on their first day.

Ask

Ask if they would like their team to have any specific training prior to their commencement, for example disability awareness training.
